In last week’s edition of Monday Morning Quarterback, I wrote that the Tiger Talk Podcast was going on a short hiatus so that Jake and I could gain some much needed R and R over the break. We watched some football, ate some turkey, and even parted our separate ways for the weekend so we could catch up on some quality time with family and friends. Well, here we are back at Oxy on the day we’re scheduled to record a podcast, and what happens? All hell breaks loose.
Some students are calling it “Hurricane Oswald,” and it’s for good reason. Last night at around 11:30, winds howled through Eagle Rock, toppling trees and billboards, knocking out power lines and traffic lights, and even contributing to several small fires in the area, including one on campus.
The scene on the morning after is startling; as I said in the video, campus looks like a war zone, but, luckily, everyone is okay.
It may take a few days or maybe even a few weeks to clean up all of this mess, but it will happen eventually. Just as we hope our podcast will some day get back on the air.
In the meantime, here are some images I took this morning of the wreckage as a sample of just how bad it was. We may not have been hit as hard as our neighbors in Pasadena, but everyone here is calling that a good thing.
